Catch us at Austin Film Festival!

Hello friends! With Austin Film Festival just around the corner, we wanted to let you know (or remind you, if you follow us elsewhere) that we have teamed up with AFF for a second time to bring you a panel we’re very excited about at this year’s conference!

image

If you have a Conference or Producers badge, stop by St. David’s on Friday morning (10/25) to see ATX Festival alum, friend, and super-human Ben Blacker moderate a discussion on procedurals versus serial dramas with Andrew Marlowe (Castle), Kyle Killen (Lone Star, Awake, Mind Games), Dawn Prestwich (The Riches, The Killing) and Nicole Yorkin (The Riches, The Killing).

And because we love them so, here is where you can catch other ATX Festival alums around AFF this year:

We are super excited to be able to support our friends at AFF in their 20th anniversary year, and to see our awesome attendees and alums again. We hope you’ll join us!

We’re back!

Hey guys! It’s been a couple of (busy) months since Season 2, and we hope you’re all doing well - and looking forward to Season 3! We’ll be posting on a more regular basis again as we start to gear up for 2014, but in the meantime, here are some things you might have missed:

  • We still have Season 2 merch available! If you missed out on t-shirts, posters, or koozies at the fest, you can still get them here!
  • Badges are on sale for Season 3! We had an incredible response at the festival and afterwards from those of you already looking forward to next year, but if you haven’t purchased one yet, you can still get a WEEKEND BADGE for $175 before they go up again!
  • Check out our Youtube page for panels from this year! We’ve uploaded 9 so far in their entirety, including the Boy Meets World Q&A, Structure of a Sitcom, and  ”I Don’t Watch TV, but I Do Tweet!”
  • Also, a final reminder to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram as well, where we’ll be posting updates and progress on Season 3!

Finally, we want just want to say (again) thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for the overwhelming response to Season 2 and from everyone we got to meet at the festival. We hope you all had as great of a time as we did, and we couldn’t be more excited to see you all again next year.

As always, you can contact us at TV@atxfestival.com or even anonymously at our Ask Box with any questions or suggestions!

It’s almost time!
With the festival only 17 days away, it’s time to get your badge/day pass (we have those now!) and check out our Panels page to start planning! We know you’ve been waiting, and we promise - the schedule IS coming. SOON. Until then, we wanted to let you know about some of our FREE! EVENTS! that will be happening during the festival. Read on, ye frugal TV lovers, read on…
WEDNESDAY (6/5):
GIRL AROUND TOWN & ANTHROPOLOGIE Kick-off ATX Television Festival with a celebration of Austin Style - 6-8 PM, Anthropologie (601 N. Lamar Blvd.) - Girl Around Town is celebrating the ATX Television Festival and all things Austin style in their newest guide, The Best Of Austin: What to do, Where to go & What to wear and joins Anthropologie to kick off the celeb-studded TV fest with a night of shopping at the North Lamar location. Join the founders of Girl Around Town at the ATX Festival as they shop a la Austin with light bites and cocktails.
FRIDAY (6/7):
BOY MEETS WORLD Reunion - 10 AM, State Theatre - While this is an official ATX Television Festival event and badge-holders will get first access, we wanted to give the average 90s nostalgia lover a shot at attending.  RSVP and come down on 6/7 to see the finale of Boy Meets World, followed by a reunion conversation with creator Michael Jacobs and main cast and fan favorites!
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Outdoor Community Screening - Music & Activities at 6:00 PM, screening at sundown, Hotel San Jose Parking Lot - Cast, crew, fans, and community members gather on a June summer night at Hotel San Jose to take in good music, good food, good beer, and tailgating activities.  Bring your lawn chair, cooler, and Panther/Lion Pride to watch a fan favorite episode of FNL! Make sure you vote! (Voting ends 5/15/13, but keep RSVPing if you want to attend.)  Music by Graham Wilkinson, The Good Mad, Phoebe Hunt & Band with special guest Stephanie Hunt.
SATURDAY (6/8):
HASBRO STUDIOS: Pancakes, Ponies, Pets & Bots! - 9 AM, SFA Intercontinental Hotel - ATX Television Festival and Hasbro Studios invite you to our family-friendly Saturday Morning Cartoon Breakfast. We encourage you (both little and BIG kids) to come in pajamas, and grab some pancakes and KIND granola before snuggling up on blankets to enjoy episodes of My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop and Transformers: Rescue Bots. Hasbro Studios will provide giveaways and surprise guests!  While attendance (and breakfast) is free, please RSVP if you plan to attend.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: Cast Diaries - 10 AM, State Theatre - While this is an ATX Television Festival event and badge-holders will get first access, we wanted to give non-festival goers a shot at attending the cast gathering of the amazing Friday Night Lights. Led by Executive Producer & Writer, David Hudgins, come watch scenes from various seasons then listen to stories from cast members as they relive bringing their characters to life both on and off the field.
PREMIERE SCREENING: AMC’s Low Winter Sun - 2 PM, State Theatre - Come see the pilot episode TWO FULL MONTHS early at the State theater on JUNE 8th at 2:00 PM with cast members Mark Strong & Lennie James, and writer, executive producer, showrunner Chris Mundy. A contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred, “Low Winter Sun” begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective. Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality the murder activates forces that will forever alter the detective’s life, and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld.
HELL ON WHEELS Screening and Q&A - 3:30 PM, State Theatre - ATX Television Festival and AMC will screen an episode of Season Two with cast and creatives from the series Hell on Wheels, as cast and creatives behind the show answer questions and discuss the upcoming season 3.
For info on these events and RSVP links, keep an eye on our EVENTS page, and make sure you’re signed up for our newsletter! Remember: all of the events listed above excluding our GAT/Anthropologie kick-off, FNL outdoor screening, and Hasbro Saturday morning cartoons will have BADGE-HOLDER PRIORITY, after which the public will be allowed entrance depending on capacity. If you’re a badge-holder and one of these events is priority for you, an RSVP does not equal a reservation — that system will be up in the coming weeks.
Also, in less-free-but-still-discounted news, you can catch attendees Scott Aukerman at the Scottish Rite on 6/6 and SULLIVAN & SON On Tour at Cap City on 6/9. Badge-holders can e-mail TV@atxfestival.com for discount codes!
We hope you’re as excited as we are!! Remember, if you have questions, you can check our updated FAQ or send us a question via askbox!
